Equipment Loadouts store equipment arrangements that can be reapplied from the equipment menu. The Loadouts command replaces the ordinary Optimize command. The game provides 10 loadout slots, with names of up to 24 characters.

Loadout actions

Action Effect
Save Records the equipment currently worn in each slot. Reusing an occupied loadout replaces its saved equipment arrangement.
Equip Unequips the current arrangement and equips owned items from the saved arrangement. Missing items leave empty slots.
Rename Changes the loadout label, up to 24 characters.
Delete Clears the stored arrangement; it does not discard the actual equipment.

Saving a loadout records the equipment assigned to each slot. It does not create additional copies of the items and does not place the items in a separate container. Replacing a saved loadout changes the recorded arrangement while keeping the player's possessions.

Ownership and empty slots

Equipping a loadout first removes the current equipment, then applies the saved arrangement using available owned equipment. An item that is no longer owned is skipped, leaving its saved slot empty. Multiple slots still require enough owned copies to fill them.

Equipment left unequipped returns to the carried inventory according to the game's equipment and inventory rules. A loadout is therefore an arrangement of possessions, rather than storage for those possessions.

Applying a loadout preserves current HP and MP up to the new maximums. If the new arrangement lowers a maximum below the current amount, the amount is reduced to that new maximum; switching back does not refill it.

Upgrade effects

Loadouts identify equipment variants; they do not save a separate historical set of the equipment's statistics. Equipment Upgrading changes the equipment variant used by the loadout, so applying the arrangement uses that variant's current effects.

Saving progress

Loadouts are stored with the saved game. Loading an earlier checkpoint restores the loadouts recorded in that checkpoint, along with the corresponding inventory and equipment.
