Moon Events
Moon Events occur at midnight and can change the world, the player, or the next day's conditions. A Moon Event is separate from a Sleep Event: midnight processing occurs whether the player sleeps or stays awake.
Scheduled Soul Moon
When day 1 of any season begins, a Soul Moon is guaranteed instead of using the ordinary roll. It regenerates resources and mines, resets Mysteries, respawns monsters, fully restores the player, and clears ordinary status effects.
The four guaranteed dates are shown on Calendar.
Ordinary moon roll
On every other midnight, a roll from 1 through 100 selects that night's moon.
| Roll | Moon | Chance | Effect that night |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–50 | New Moon | 50% | No special world reset. |
| 51–90 | Strange Moon | 40% | Usually selects one of six equally likely Strange Moon effects. |
| 91–92 | Soul Moon | 2% | Regenerates resources and mines, resets Mysteries, respawns monsters, and fully restores the player while clearing ordinary status effects. |
| 93–96 | Blood Moon | 4% | Resets Mysteries and respawns monsters. |
| 97–100 | Harvest Moon | 4% | Regenerates resources and mines. |
Strange Moon
The Strange Moon normally selects one of six results with equal probability. Because a Strange Moon occurs on 40% of ordinary nights, each listed result normally has a 1/6 chance after a Strange Moon is selected, or about 6.67% per ordinary midnight.
There is one scheduled exception: on the third counted day, a Strange Moon produces the warm-glow crop-growth result instead of making the six-way selection.
| Result | Chance on a Strange Moon midnight | Overall ordinary-night chance | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oppressive energy | 1/6 (16.67%) | 1/15 (6.67%) | Applies one random incurable, one-day Curse from Attack, Defense, Magic Attack, Magic Defense, Agility, Luck, or Maximum HP. |
| Scorn of the old gods | 1/6 (16.67%) | 1/15 (6.67%) | Reduces Luck by 20% for one day; the effect is incurable during that duration. |
| Quiet result | 1/6 (16.67%) | 1/15 (6.67%) | No additional effect. |
| Favorable glow | 1/6 (16.67%) | 1/15 (6.67%) | Grants two random common Blessings. |
| Unpredictable glow | 1/6 (16.67%) | 1/15 (6.67%) | Makes three independent random Blessing-or-Curse selections. |
| Warm glow | 1/6 (16.67%) | 1/15 (6.67%) | Crops grow one additional stage that night. |
The three unpredictable selections are independent, so they can produce any mixture of Blessings and Curses and can select the same stat more than once where stacking is allowed.
Pale Moon
A Pale Moon announces The Tax Man. His regular visits occur on the 4th and 18th of each season. The Pale Moon is a scheduled event rather than one of the five results in the ordinary 1–100 moon table.
See The Tax Man for bill selection, deadlines, rewards, penalties, and tax-specific Blessings and Curses.
Reset comparison
| Moon | Resources and mines | Mysteries | Monsters | Player recovery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New Moon | No | No | No | No |
| Harvest Moon | Yes | No | No | No |
| Blood Moon | No | Yes | Yes | No |
| Soul Moon | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Strange Moon | Only the crop-growth result affects crops | No | No | Depends on the selected result |
Bathing and other rest effects have their own reset rules. See Day/Night Cycle and Bathing before assuming that one reset also performs every other reset.
