Dialogue

Forsaken Settlement — Initial conversation
  • “Not now, not now... I'm far to busy.”
  • “...Uh?”
  • “Oh... you're an outsider.”
  • “Sorry, it's not often that you get a tap on the shoulder from an unfamiliar hand, around these parts.”
  • “My name is Isaiah. I'm sort of like the mayor around here, if a heap such as this could even be considered a village.”
  • “I've been a bit stressed lately... hence the attitude.”
  • “You see, things are not going so well around here.”
  • “Even less "well" than usual, that is.”
  • “It's all been going downhill. Food stores are low, the lights are getting dim, and sanity is slipping further.”
  • “The pearls kept things barely functional. But, without them, there is no hope for us...”
    • Player responses: “Pearls?”
  • “Yes, the Dusklight Pearls.”
  • “A great treasure has long been said to hide in these woods.”
  • “The dangers were known as well, of course, but the first of us to set up camp brought the pearls with us.”
  • “The pearls have mysterious power. A power which could help resist the darkness.”
  • “So, with the pearls in hand, we set up camp, and began to tame the wilds.”
  • “Over time, others joined us. With more hands, we were sure to conquer the forest, and someday storm the great mansion hiding at its heart.”
  • “But, we were fools...”
  • “He could not leave us to our ways, the faceless Lord of the Manor.”
  • “In the night, the pearls were taken, and scattered across the forest.”
  • “Now, we grope about in the dark. Blindly grasping for our precious pearls, as the mask of sanity slips.”
  • “And all for his sick amusement...”
    • Player responses: “Perhaps I could help you find them”; “Good luck with that”

  • “We were fools to think we stood a chance out here.”
  • “With it, you could venture to the manor, in our stead...”
