General Info

The Travelling Merchant is a weekend Farm Path merchant who buys two changing seasonal crops at premium prices.

Every Saturday, the merchant randomly chooses one pair of crops from the current season's table. The same pair remains available on Sunday; it is not rerolled between the two days. He accepts all four qualities of both requested crops: Regular, Silver, Gold and Void (also labelled Basic, Quality, Artisan and Perfect on item tables).

Locations and schedule

Location Days Availability Selection changes Purchase price
Farm Path, beside the produce cart Saturday and Sunday All day (12:00 AM–11:59 PM) Once per week, on Saturday 75% of the item's base value, rounded down

The merchant pays about 50% more than an ordinary shop, which pays 50% of an item's base value. Only the two crops shown in his dialogue can be sold to him that weekend.

Seasonal requests

Each row is one possible weekly selection. All rows within a season are equally likely. The season controls the request table; it does not matter when the crop was grown, so stored crops can be sold whenever they are requested.

Prices and unlocks

The four price columns use the crop's quality-specific icon from the game's icon sheet. The quality names correspond as follows: Regular (Basic), Silver (Quality), Gold (Artisan) and Void (Perfect). The merchant's request roll does not check whether the corresponding seed has been unlocked. A crop can therefore be requested before its usual seed source is available.

Unlock and progression notes

  • The Travelling Merchant does not require a task or friendship level to unlock. He appears automatically every Saturday and Sunday.
  • In the full game, all four seasonal request tables are enabled from the beginning and the active table changes automatically with the season.
  • Seed and crop availability does not affect the weekly roll. For example, Peas can be requested during Rebirth even though Pea Seeds are normally first sold at the Harvest Festival on Harvest 27.
  • Completing a crop's task unlocks its seed at the Farming Shop; it does not add that crop to the merchant's table because the crop is already present in the relevant seasonal pool.

Notes

  • The merchant's prices are fixed by crop and quality. Only the requested pair changes randomly.
  • The sale price is calculated as 75% of the item's base value and rounded down to the nearest whole gold.
  • The merchant buys crops; animal products are not part of his shop list.
