Recurring facts and relationships have named fields in the modules listed below. Their presentation adapters retain the existing row order, table styles, headings, images, tabs and collapsed sections. Article-specific explanations and dialogue remain on the articles.
== Which source should I edit? ==
* Use [[Help:Shared data directory]] for an article’s presentation adapter and shared infobox facts.
* Use the field directory below for merchant offers, recipe ingredients, item-index values, enemy variants, character schedules, task summaries and guide outcomes.
* Edit the named value under <code>fields</code>, not its reference in the presentation adapter. Record keys contain the article or station, table purpose and row identity.
* Existing [[Module:Elderfield/Data/Items]], [[Module:Elderfield/Data/Weapons]] and [[Module:Elderfield/Data/Armor]] remain authoritative wherever the current view explicitly reads them. Shared identity and icon references are retained.
* A copied structured dataset is not automatically authoritative. Check the authority review before editing older Recipes, Shops, Enemies or NPCs datasets.

== Editing rules ==
* A merchant price belongs to that merchant’s offer, not an item’s generic buy price. Keep limited stock, refill timing, random selection and availability notes distinct.
* Recipe records retain result variants, ingredients, access notes and station scope. Ingredient quantities use named <code>ingredient_01_quantity</code> fields; their display fields reference those quantities. Do not edit the same quantity again in a result-item view.
* Enemy stats retain their level and difficulty context. Move-selection chance and its use condition belong to the enemy, not the global ability effect. Encounter loot remains separate from ordinary EXP and gold.
* Character schedules describe visits, not necessarily residence. Keep exact time ranges, weather and progression overrides. Do not replace contextual dialogue with a flattened list.
* Item qualities, variants, special acquisition notes and different outputs remain distinct. Matching index fields share a record; differing descriptions are not silently collapsed.
* Multiline dialogue, irregular tables and unusual branching guides remain in their existing adapters when moving them would make their structure ambiguous.
* Records are wiki-maintained. Review and merge newer wiki contributions before importing or replacing anything. Never blindly overwrite a curated dataset.
== Article field directory ==
{{#invoke:Elderfield/Ownership|articles}}
== Find exact record keys ==
For a focused preview, use <code><nowiki>{{#invoke:Elderfield/Ownership|article|page=Coal}}</nowiki></code>. Change the page parameter to the article being edited. This lists its source modules and exact record keys without opening the whole directory.
== Regression checks ==
See [[Help:Shared record tests]] for renderer previews and cross-page tests. Keep the existing public template names and parameters. Keep ordered segments unless parser measurements demonstrate that consolidation is safe.
